Packing tips for Switzerland
- Pack light. Trains have limited luggage space and many stations involve stairs. Big bags over 160 cm total need a reserved seat on the Tokaido/Sanyo/Kyushu SBB CFF FFS & Panoramic Alpine Railways — see our SBB CFF FFS & Panoramic Alpine Railways guide.
- Buy on arrival: toiletries, Heattech layers, umbrellas and most medicines are easy to find in Switzerland.
- Medicines: some common medicines are restricted in Switzerland; check the Ministry of Health rules before you fly (see our entry guide).
- Plugs: Switzerland uses Type A (two flat pins) at 100V — many devices are dual-voltage, but check.
